HS BOYS BASKETBALL: Toms River East Edges Donovan Catholic 61-59

Phil Lingat’s game-winning shot in the final seconds gave the 13th-seeded Toms River East High School boys basketball team a 61-59 win over visiting Donovan Catholic in the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament on Tuesday.

Ryan West scored 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Raiders. Lingat scored 18 points and Bailey Engelhard had 11 points and 16 rebounds for Toms River East.

Riley Collins scored a game-high 24 points for the 20th-seeded Griffins.

The Indians will face fourth-seeded Toms River North on Thursday in the second round.
