HOWELL – The Howell Township Council has voted to reduce the annual sewage utility user charge by $80 for its ratepayers for 2016. The new rate will be effective for the billing date due April 1.

Rates for residential users will drop to $164 from $184 per quarter. Rates for commercial, industrial and other users will drop to $195 from $175 per quarter. The reductions follow similar actions in 2015.

Meanwhile, the township’s Freewood Acres sewer project remains ongoing and is in the design phase. The project is the largest capital improvement project in Howell’s history and will improve the health and safety of the entire township.
