Toms River Police Officers Wrangle Horse on Route 70

Shore News Network

TOMS RIVER-A horse is a horse, of course, of course, and no one can talk to a horse of course. That is, of course, unless they’re officers of the Toms River Police Department.

Here’s something that we don’t see every day in Toms River – a runaway horse. While on patrol, Officer Inglis observed a horse running north on Massachusetts Ave in the area of Route 70 without its owner. Several attempts were made to stop the horse but were unsuccessful.

The horse continued east on Route 70 and eventually stopped in the parking lot of the Stop and Shop where it was corralled by Ptl. Inglis, Ptl. Pestalozzi, Ptl. Weg, and Ptl. Burke.

“Our officers located the horse’s owner, and escorted him to the Stop and Shop where they were reunited,” the department said.
