Lakewood Police Officer Shoots “Aggressive” Pit Bull

LAKEWOOD-A Lakewood police officer shot and wounded an aggressive dog while serving a warrant for a man living in a sober living facility in the township.

According to the OCPO’s press release writer,  “Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on April 24, 2019, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Lakewood Township Police were attempting to locate a male wanted by Manchester Police for a violation of a Final Restraining Order and Stalking at a sober living facility adjacent to All Saints Episcopal Church in Lakewood. In the process of trying to locate the male, a Lakewood Police Officer encountered an aggressive pit bull that ran towards the officer. The officer discharged his weapon and wounded the dog. The dog was transported by Lakewood EMS to a local veterinary hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. The officer was not harmed.”
