Monmouth GOP Boss Golden Loses Marlboro Race Weeks Before Election

MARLBORO-And then there were none.   That’s the story for Monmouth County GOP boss Shaun Golden in Marlboro as nearly the entire Republican ticket for mayor and council has dropped out of the race here.

Marlboro GOP Chairman Derek Deluca and running mates Marielaina LaRosa and Marianne Longobardi have dropped out of the race.

Deluca dropped out of the race after taking a public job with Republican Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso.  LaRosa moved to Toms River and Longobardi cited personal reasons for her departure from the ticket.

While a head to head election victory was a longshot for Marlboro Republicans hoping to flip town hall, those odds are now pretty much zero at this point after only one Republican stepped up to fill the void to replace the three candidates.
