Ocean County Dems Unite Against Murphy Pick for State Chairman

Governor Phil Murphy wants his guy, John Currie, the current state chairman of the Democrat party to keep the job, but Ocean County Democrats may have the final say on the matter.

Democrats in Ocean County, led by Chairman Wyatt Earp appear to be using their six state committee votes to elect Essex County party boss LeRoy Jones instead.

According to the New Jersey Globe, Jones has a 12 vote margin, even as Governor Murphy and his wife Tammy work the  phones lobbying state committee members to re-elect their guy Currie.

If Murphy could persuade Ocean County’s delegates to switch their votes, the election could be a tie.

Even Murphy’s Lt. Governor, Sheila Oliver isn’t in his corner, she has publicly endorsed Jones.
