New Jersey Police Officer Shot in Pittsgrove

TRENTON – The Attorney General’s Office and the New Jersey State Police are investigating the non-fatal shooting of a New Jersey State Trooper that took place last night in Pittsgrove, N.J.

According to the preliminary investigation, the shooting occurred at approximately 10:40 p.m. yesterday at the Harding Woods Mobile Home Park on Harding Highway in Pittsgrove. At the time of the shooting, the trooper was investigating a home invasion that had taken place earlier that day at the mobile home park. Several subjects drove to where the trooper was conducting the investigation and a number of individuals exited their vehicles and confronted him. The trooper identified himself as law enforcement and was subsequently fired upon and wounded. The trooper also fired his weapon during the course of the confrontation.

The trooper underwent surgery earlier this morning at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he is presently recovering from his injuries.


No one has been charged for the shooting of the trooper. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information concerning the shooting is encouraged to contact (856)451-0101.
