Police Arrest 15 Year Old Who Shot and Killed Another Teen in April in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE – Wilmington Police have arrested a 15-year-old male in connection with a fatal shooting incident that took place in April.  On April 28 at approximately 5:08 p.m., police were called to the 100 block of Ashton Place, where they located a 13-year-old who had sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital and later succumbed to his injuries. The incident was determined to have been a fatal shooting incident, and the victim was identified as Jeramiah Redding. The firearm used in the incident was recovered during the initial investigation.

The case was assigned to Detective Brandon Mosley of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Mosley identified a 15-year-old male as a suspect.

The 15-year-old male was taken into custody on May 13, and has been charged with the following offenses:


  • Murder (2nd Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Providing a False Statement to Law Enforcement

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $57,000 cash-only bail.

Police also arrested a 14-year-old male, who has been charged with Providing a False Statement to Law Enforcement. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $500 unsecured bail.
