DAVENPORT, IA – 22-year-old black woman was shot dead outside of a Walmart in Davenport, Iowa during the Sunday night riots here. Police arrived to find Italia, Marie Kelly of Davenport on West Kimberly Road dead from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Family members said it was not police who shot the woman, but individuals involved in the rioting. A full investigation has been launched by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations. As of today, no arrests have been made. Police said Kelly was a passenger in a vehicle at the time of her death and their arrival.
Today, the family is trying to raise money to bury their daughter and their sister. Her sister posted a video on social media about the incident (see below).
“My daughter, Italia, was murdered while getting in the car to leave from what should have been a peaceful demonstration. We are trying to raise money to cover the services and transportation due to these unexpected events,” her mom said today. You can donate here.
