Today, We Toast, Toast…As Owner Criticizes Murphy’s “Arbitrary” Reopening Plan on Fox Business News

Shore News Network

ASBURY PARK, NJ – Toast in Asbury Park is one of the best breakfast places at the Jersey Shore.  In fact, when we started highlighting some of the shore’s best spots, Toast was among our first choices to share.  Back on May 13th, Toast was our featured breakfast break.

Amy Russo, the owner of Toast was on Fox Business News today and said she has decided not to challenge Governor Phil Murphy, who “Slapped an injunction” on the city of Asbury Park.  Russo said she decided to not protest the Governor,

“He’s certainly being arbitrary and violating his executive orders, I don’t see why there’s certain things that can open, why certain gatherings can happen, but we can’t eat inside a restaurant,” Russo said.

Host Stuart Varney said Murphy is planning his reopening by whim, leaving business owners in the dark at almost every turn.

“The only thing we can plan for is a hurry up and wait scenario at best right now, people want to come back to work, but it’s impossible to plan right now,” she said.

Russo said even with outdoor dining, she’s going to continue losing money, having to deal with finicky Jersey Shore weather.

“If it was raining, I’d be doing nothing,” she said.
