South Toms River Man Charged for Distributing Child Pornography

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that Kevin Carrieri, 33, of South Toms River, was charged with Distribution of Child Pornography in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(5)ai; Possession of Child Pornography in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(5)iii; and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1).

This investigation was the result of a referral from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children through the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which identified a suspect in South Toms River as distributing child pornography and attempting to traffic a child for sex.  On July 10, 2020, Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit and South Toms River Police Department executed a search warrant on the suspect’s residence in South Toms River.  As a result, Detectives seized a smart phone belonging to Carrieri which contained child pornography.  During the course of executing the search warrant, Detectives also seized approximately 200 grams of Marijuana packaged for distribution, drug paraphernalia, as well as a prohibited weapon – specifically, metal knuckles.  As such, Carrieri was additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana in an amount Greater than One Ounce but Less than Five Pounds with Intent to Distribute in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(11); Possession of Marijuana in an amount Greater than Fifty Grams in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10a(3); Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:36-2; and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3e.  Carrieri was processed at South Toms River Police Headquarters, and transported to the Ocean County Jail where he is currently lodged pending a detention hearing.
