Police charge man who threatened Costco worker in Manahawkin

MANAHAWKIN, NJ –

On August 3, 2020, the Stafford Township Police Department conducted an investigation into the viral video posted on various social media outlets showing a customer at the Manahawkin Costco berating, threatening, and causing a scene inside the store on July 29, 2020.

Officer Joseph Stanziano took the initial complaint and began the investigation. Members of the Stafford Township Detective Bureau later identified the suspect with the assistance of the patrol division and concerned members of the public who were posting information on social media.

As a result of these efforts, the suspect was positively identified as, William Commauf, 48 years old of Cannonball Drive in Barnegat, New Jersey.

Today, August 5, 2020, a warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was arrested with the assistance of the Barnegat Township Police Department without incident.

Commauf was charged with Terroristic Threats, Harassment and Disorderly Conduct.

He was processed at the Stafford Township Police Department, and transported to the Ocean County Jail.
