AUGUST 6, 2020 – The Barbara Forfar Nursing Scholarship Fund announced today that due to the uncertainty surrounding Covid-19, it has rescheduled their 2020 Rock for the Nurses fundraiser to Sunday May 2, 2021.
All tickets purchased the 2020 event will be honored in 2021.
However, if you purchased a ticket for the 2020 event and would like to receive a refund, please send your original unused paper ticket or your printed e-ticket along with your mailing address to The Barbara Forfar Nursing Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1154, Toms River, NJ 08754 as indicated on their Contact Page of their Official Website and the cost of your ticket will be refunded.
“It is unfortunate that we are still in such uncertain times and have to reschedule this event because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. I would like to take a moment to thank all of the individuals who worked so hard and tried to make this happen this year for us, including all the outstanding musicians who committed to perform, all our committee members and volunteers, all our suppliers & sponsors and of course the River Rock owners, management and staff” mentioned Walt Konopka, co-chairperson of the Barbara Forfar Nursing Scholarship Fund.
“Nurses have been and still are fighting on the front lines since Covid-19 started. We are going to honor and thank them for putting themselves in harm’s way for us. Our 2021 fundraiser will be bigger, better and now more meaningful than ever! You do not want to miss this event! Hopefully our lives will be back to some normality by May of next year and we can celebrate with all these exceptional nurses” finished Konopka.
All proceeds from the event will benefit The Barbara Forfar Nursing Scholarship Fund which annually helps the nurses and nursing students of Ocean Medical Center by providing nursing scholarships to nurses and nursing students looking to further their formal education in the nursing profession.
ABOUT THE BARBARA FORFAR NURSING SCHOLARSHIP FUND:
The Barbara Forfar Nursing Scholarship Fund was established on January 15, 2011 and is part of the Ocean Medical Center Foundation family of funds.
The fund provides monetary assistance to qualified nurses and nursing students of Ocean Medical Center who desire to continue their formal education in nursing profession in the form of scholarships and awards one (or more) nursing scholarship during September of each year to eligible applicants.
The Barbara Forfar Nursing Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of long-time Point Pleasant resident Barbara Forfar or “Foof” as she was called by her fellow nurses and other colleagues in the operating room, and her forty-four years of dedication to the nursing profession with all but three years of her service associated with the Ocean Medical Center or its predecessor hospitals.
To qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must be an employee or nursing student at Ocean Medical Center and must be enrolled in a RN program, an upper division program (RN to BSN) or advanced degree program (MSN, PhD) in nursing.
All Ocean Medical Center nurses and nursing students from all OMC practice areas are eligible to apply. The scholarship must be used to supplement tuition, fees, lab costs, books or educational supply expenses.
