POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ –  Black Lives Matter has announced they will be holding a march on the Point Pleasant Boardwalk this Thursday at 1pm.  Today, a “Back the Blue” Rally has been announced for the same day.   You can learn more about the Back the Blue rally here.

According to BLM, the group is planning a protest march on the Point Plesant Beach Boardwalk (Jenkinsons) on August 27th. The group says the protest will begin at 1:00 pm and is intended to be a peaceful protest.  The group says they are targeting Point Pleasant Beach and Jenkinson’s business because police in that town have “made a [sic] arrest recently with excessive force that was unneeded.”

The organizers told protesters not to buy food or drinks from Jenkinson’s businesses.  The march comes after a protest on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk got out of hand after a man approached the protesters and a scuffle ensued.

Earlier in the morning, “Team Trump”, which has been holding weekend beach parties all summer in Point Pleasant and Atlantic City announced they will be holding their own boardwalk rally.

“Come and support Jenkinson‘s with the red white and blue,” Team Trump said.  “Bring signs, flags, water, etc. Starting 10 am on the beach and then going up on the boardwalk around 1 pm, BLM Will be marching and protesting at Jenkinson‘s and the police department.”

The group said it will show its support for the police department as BLM calls for police reform and defunding police.

“We come in peace let’s make it happen, show solidarity, everyone that comes will get a small flag for free, Please share and invite friends,” the event invitation said.
