Atlantic City Police Car Hit in Atlantic City Shooting, Two Vineland Men Charged

On October 31, 2020, two men were arrested and two handguns recovered after multiple gunshots were fired.
At 2:32 am, patrol officers were on a call for service at Florida and Fairmount Avenues when they heard multiple gunshots coming from the 200 block of Florida Avenue. No one was injured, however, several vehicles were struck by gunfire including a marked police car.
Officer Sean McGettigan responded to the area and located a vehicle fleeing the scene. The vehicle was stopped and the occupants, Wilfredo Santiago-Bota and Edwin Rodriguez, were arrested after two handguns and a 30 round magazine were located in the car.
ARRESTED: Wilfredo Santiago-Bota, 26, of Vineland, NJ.
CHARGES: Two counts of purchasing firearm parts to manufacture a firearm without a serial number and unlawful possession of a weapon, single counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of large capacity magazine, certain person not to possess a weapon, aggravated assault.
ARRESTED: Edwin Rodriguez, 31, of Vineland, NJ.
CHARGES: Two counts of purchasing firearm parts to manufacture a firearm without a serial number and unlawful possession of a weapon, single counts of possession of large capacity magazine and certain person not to possess a weapon.
Both men were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
