Armed Robbery Reported at Wilmington Wawa

Wilmington, De – Delaware State Police are investigating an attempted robbery inside of a Wawa that occurred early this morning.

The incident occurred on November 5, 2020, at approximately 4:49 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to Wawa, located at 301 Ridge Road, Wilmington, for a report of an attempted robbery.  Upon arrival, Troopers met with store employees who advised two subjects armed with crowbars demanded everyone to the ground. The suspects set an explosive charge to the ATM located inside the store, but were unsuccessful at gaining access to the safe inside of the ATM. The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

There is currently no description of the suspects.


The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is assisting with the investigation regarding the explosion.
