Sykesville Man Indicted for Negligent Manslaughter in Fatal Crash in Columbia

COLUMBIA, MD – A grand jury has indicted a Sykesville man for negligent manslaughter in a fatal March collision in Columbia. John Anthony Bryant, Jr., 26, was also indicted for vehicular homicide as a result of negligent driving while impaired by drugs, and related traffic charges. He was arrested on Nov. 17 and released on $20,000 bond.  At approximately 8:54 a.m. on March 13, a 2008 Pontiac G6 driven by Bryant was traveling south on Route 32 approaching Route 108 when it collided with a 2002 Toyota Camry, causing the Camry to leave the roadway and overturn. The driver and sole occupant of the Camry, 51-year-old Jonathan Bos of Dayton, was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he was later pronounced dead. Bryant was uninjured.

Through investigation, Howard County police determined that Bryant was the at-fault driver. Investigators also determined that Bryant was under the influence of cocaine at the time of the collision.
