Rochester man caught with stolen 9mm during traffic stop in Gates

ROCHESTER, NY – On November 29th at 5:00 pm a Gates Police Sergeant was on patrol on Chili Ave. While traveling on Chili Ave a vehicle came to the Sergeant’s attention for some violations of the vehicle and traffic law. Upon stopping the vehicle the driver, Robert Moultrie (29 years old from Rochester) stated he had a suspended driver’s license. While the Sergeant was taking Moultrie into custody for the suspended license he was found to be in possession of a loaded stolen 9mm handgun on his person. Moutltrie was taken into custody without incident. Moultrie was charged with CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A WEAPON 2nd DEGREE, CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY 4th DEGREE, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations. Moultrie was found to have an active warrant out of the City of Rochester for Menacing 2nd DEGREE – Weapon. Moultrie was processed in Gates, released with an appearance ticket, and turned over to RPD.
