Man shot dead in parking lot outside Main Event at Columbia Mall

COLUMBIA, MD – The Howard County Police Department has identified the young man shot and killed in the parking lot at the Columbia Mall outside of Main Event, an indoor arcade and entertainment center.  A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the identity of the shooter.  Police are continuing their investigation.
In a release today, the Howard County Police Department said they are investigating a shooting in the parking lot at the Mall in Columbia that took place on Friday, December 4th that left a local man dead. Anthony Patterson, 20, of Owings Mills, was shot and killed around 10:23 p.m. in the parking area in front of the Main Event entertainment venue.
Through preliminary investigation, police believe Patterson and the unknown shooter had a verbal altercation prior to the shooting. At this stage, there are no indications that Patterson knew the suspect before the incident.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots at the scene. Police have confirmed that no one else was injured.
Detectives believe the suspect quickly fled the scene and there was no ongoing threat to people in the area. They have not identified the suspect and are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information in the case.
