PARAMUS, NJ – A 16-year-old male from Fort Lee, has been arrested by the Paramus Police Department for aggravated assault with a knife.
The incident took place on Thursday, May 11, around 8:26 pm, when Paramus Police officers received a report of a fight involving a knife at “24 Hour Fitness” located at East 260 Route 4.
Upon arrival, officers found a 23-year-old male from Bloomfield with a laceration on his face. The victim reported that a fight had occurred during a pick-up basketball game at the gym, during which a suspect, later identified as the juvenile from Fort Lee, pulled out a multi-tool device containing a knife and slashed the victim’s face.
The suspect and his friends then fled the area in a Black Mercedes G-Wagon. The victim refused medical attention at the scene.
Paramus Police Detective Sal Cosentino quickly located the suspect’s vehicle on Route 4 and stopped it. The officers arrested the suspect and recovered the weapon. The suspect was transported to Paramus Police Headquarters, where he was booked and processed as a juvenile offender.
The suspect was then taken to the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center, where he was given an electronic monitoring bracelet and was released to his parent.
