TD Bring Change

Shore News Network

WHO: As part of its “Bring Change” campaign, your local TD Bank’s Penny Arcade will serve as a designated hub to support Matthew Deriggi, a 17 year old living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This coming Friday, TD is inviting people to participate in a community coin counting event and fundraiser. TD will match up to $2,000 in coins counted and donate it to the organization.

With 500 events planned through 2016, this program promises to raise more than $1 million in support of local organizations. To see a video recap of where we are to date, please visit https://youtu.be/4uAR0CiRLCM. To learn more about the program, visit www.tdbringchange.com.

WHAT: Matthew Deriggi is a 17 year old living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne results in a progressive loss of muscle strength and is caused by a mutation in the dystrophin gene. The progressive muscle weakness leads to serious medical problems, particularly issues relating to the heart and lungs. Unfortunately, Matt broke his hip in August 2010 and has been confined to a wheelchair since. Matt’s bedroom is currently on the second floor of his home, but getting him up and down the stairs is not feasible. The DeRiggi family will use the funds from TD’s Bring Change event to construct an addition onto their home to better accommodate Matthew.

Please join the community and our customers for a coin counting and check presentation.
