HS BOYS BASKETBALL: Mater Dei Tops Toms River North 62-50

Kyle Elliot scored 17 points and Elijah Mitchell added 16 for the top-seeded Mater Dei High School boys basketball team as the Seraphs defeated fourth-seeded Toms River North, 62-50, in the semifinal round of the Shore Conference Tournament on Tuesday at Pine Belt Arena.

The Mariners emerged from the first quarter with a one-point lead but were outscored 13-1 in the second quarter and went to halftime trailing Mater Dei 28-17. Mike Nyisztor led Toms River North with 14 points, while Hunter Patrick scored 13 and Jaden Rhoden added 12 for the Mariners.

Elijah Barnes and NyQuan McCombs scored 10 points each for the Seraphs, who will face second-seeded Christian Brothers Academy in the Shore Conference Tournament final at Monmouth University on Saturday.
