Berkeley Mayor, Council Bag Groceries for Hunger Relief

Mayor Carmen Amato, Council members John BacchioneSophia Attanasio Papa Gingrich and Judith Noonan and Mark C. Vannella, Director of Sanitation & Recycling, donated their time today bagging groceries at ShopRite to raise awareness about the issue of hunger.

Mayor Amato stated that is was an honor to give back to the community and help raise money for “ShopRite Partners in Caring Day.” All proceeds assist the local food banks.

Cashiers at all ShopRite stores have begun accepting monetary donations to assist the local food banks. Since its inception in 1999, the ShopRite “Partners in Caring” program has donated more than $40 million dollars to local food banks
across the Northeast.
