Toms River Little League Celebrates Opening Day

TOMS RIVER-It felt more like winter on April 9th, but as they say, the show must go on as Toms River Little League kicked off their 2018 spring baseball season.

This year the league celebrated with first pitches thrown out by Mayor Thomas Kelaher and Councilman Maurice Hill.  The township delegates were joined by the great-grandchildren of Alton Estemmann for whom the complex was named after.

“Councilman Mo Hill and I were invited to throw out the first pitch at the Toms River Little League Opening Day ceremony,” Kelaher said. “However, we were upstaged by two great-grandsons of the late Alton Estemann.  What a thrill to watch these two young boys throw out the ball at the place that was named after their great-grandfather.”
