Lakewood Man Charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of Child

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato and Lakewood Police Chief Gregory Meyer today announced the arrest of AGILEO RAMIREZ, 31, of Lakewood, NJ, by Ocean County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit Detective Alex Dasti and Lakewood Police Detective Charles Messer, with assistance from Ptl. Felix Rivera.  The defendant, Ramirez, is charged with one (1) count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, one (1) count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact and one (1) count of Sexual Assault.

 

The investigation was started on the evening of Friday (7/6) after suspicion of the abuse was reported to Lakewood Police Department.  The investigation by the partnering agencies would find evidence of alleged abuse over the past two (2) years of a female minor who is known to Ramirez.

The case was reviewed by Senior Assistant Prosecutor Mara Brater, who approved the charges.  The defendant was served on 7/7/18 at approximately 12:50 am, processed and transported to OCJ pending his detention hearing.  Nicole’s Law and a no victim contact order were implemented.  ICE was notified and provided a detainer.  As per procedure, notification was made to the Division of Child Protection and Permanency.

 

The media and the public are reminded that criminal charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
