ASBURY PARK-A former Assistant City Manager died in a structure fire at his townhouse in Asbury Park on Monday afternoon, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
James Famularo, 52, former Asbury Park Assistant City Manager, was found in an upstairs bedroom of a 3-story townhouse structure, deceased. Famularo’s wife, Shonna, escaped the blaze and was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
At approximately 3:08 p.m., the Asbury Park Police and Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at 1509 Park Avenue. After firefighters were able to get the fire under control, an on-scene investigation determined that the fire originated in the first floor den of the residence. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.

The investigation into the fire is being conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office and Asbury Park Police Department.
