Father whose family descended from slavery destroys critical race theory

Phil Stilton

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – A Colorado dad whose family is the direct descendants of slaves on both sides of his family tree denounced critical race theory at a school board meeting. The school board later voted to ban CRT in the classroom by a 3-2 vote, but not before Derrick Wilburn destroyed CRT before a standing ovation by the crowd.

“I am a direct descendant of the North American slave trade. Both my parents are black. All four of my grandparents are black, all eight of my great-great grandparents, and all 16 of my great greats. On my mother’s side, my ancestors were enslaved in Alabama. On my father’s side, we were enslaved in Texas,” Wilburn said. “I am not oppressed. I am not a victim. I travel all across this country of ours and I fly commercially and I check into hotels and I order food at restaurants.”

Wilburn said he also teaches his children that they are also not oppressed by anything but their own ignorance, their own laziness and their own poor decision making.

“We are not victims of America,” he added. “We’re not victims of some unseen 190-year-old force that floats around in the ether.”

The father said critical race theory keeps racism on life support in America and blamed the American education system.
