NJ Democrat Andy Kim Ignores Motion That Would Certify Voting is a Right Only for Legal American Citizens

WASHINGTON, D.C.-New Jersey Progressive Democrat Andy Kim voted against amending a government voting reform bill to include language that would make it illegal for any non-U.S. citizen to vote in an election.   Congressman Dan Crenshaw of Texas asked that Congress reaffirmed the notion that voting is a right provided only to legal American citizens at all levels of government within the country.

Democrats, including Kim, largely ignored Crenshaw’s request and voted to approve the bill without language that would make it illegal for an illegal alien to vote in U.S. elections.

Crenshaw referenced the city of San Francisco where illegal immigrants are now allowed to vote in that city’s school board elections.

In a press release issued by Kim after the passage of H.R. 1, he did not mention why Democrats chose to ignore Crenshaw’s request.

“Today’s vote is a victory for the voice of the American people. It’s a defeat for dark money and special interests,” Kim said.  “H.R. 1 is a massive step forward in truly making our democracy for the people. I call on the Senate to take up this bill and answer the call of our constituents, Democrats and Republicans alike, to restore power back to the people and deliver the government they deserve.”
