NEW YORK CITY-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Friday went all in with her own brand of tokenism for a little bit of pandering to an African-American audience at the National Action Network. She apparently channeled her inner Barack Obama, who was also known for putting on a little mustard during his tenure for black audiences.
She then told the room that there’s nothing wrong with menial labor jobs…afterall it was she who dashed the hopes of New Yorkers to get out of those jobs and lose out on 25,000 high paying Amazon jobs.
“Ocasio-Cortez speaks in an accent that she never uses while telling a room of predominately black people that there is nothing wrong with them folding clothes, cooking, and driving other people around on a bus for a living,” said the Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra.
“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is speaking in front of a predominately Black audience, and she is using this weird “Ebonics” accent in her voice. She damn near sounds like Diamond & Silk,” said African American film producer Tariq Nasheed.
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez: "I'm proud to be a bartender. Ain't nothing wrong that. There's nothing wrong with working retail…There is nothing wrong with preparing that your neighbors will eat."

Fox News host Tucker Carlson said the Cortez accent was fake.

Of course, Cortez responded to the backlash of using a fake accent by claiming it was real…and she’s once again a victim.
Folks talking about my voice can step right off. Women’s March & Kavanaugh speech, same.
Any kid who grew up in a distinct linguistic culture & had to learn to navigate class enviros at school/work knows what’s up.
My Spanish is the same way.

As much as the right wants to distort & deflect, I am from the Bronx. I act & talk like it, *especially* when I’m fired up and especially when I’m home.
It is so hurtful to see how every aspect of my life is weaponized against me, yet somehow asserted as false at the same time.
