Step Up for The Arc Walk Raises $50,000

Lakewood, NJ (October 12, 2019) – The Arc, Ocean County Chapter surpassed their fundraising goal of $35,000 and raised over $50,000 at the 19th annual Step Up for The Arc, Walk in the Park Family Fun Day on Saturday, October 12th at FirstEnergy Park, home of the Lakewood BlueClaws.
Participants walked the 1-mile concourse to raise awareness and funds for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Ocean County who participate in The Arc’s residential, vocational and recreation programs.
From 9:00am to 11:00am attendees moved and grooved to a Zumba lesson lead by Creative Cardio, played games to win prizes provided by PetSmart, enjoyed the musical entertainment of Applaud Our Kids, got their faces painted by Magical Moments, danced to DJ Gregg’s song mixes, and enjoyed appearances by Buster from the BlueClaws, and Woody and Unicorn from Magical Moments.
By utilizing the online fundraising website of CrowdRise, 42 fundraising teams generated over $29,000 in donations. The top team of The Arc Employment Center was rewarded with the spirit stick for fundraising over $5,600.
Local businesses showed their support with in-kind refreshment donations from Atlanta Bread, Bimbo Bakeries, Manhattan Bagel, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Whole Foods, Herr’s Chips, Wegmans and Costco.
Thanks to the event sponsors who donated a total of $19,000, every dollar raised by our donors will directly benefit the programs and clients served.
