WASHINGTON, D.C.-Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings has died of complications from a long term illness.  Cummings has been a vocal opponent of President Donald J. Trump.  Cummings passed away at Gilchrist Hospice Care.

In September, Cummings stood on the house floor and demanded the impeachment of Trump.

“When the history books are written about this tumultuous era, I want them to show that I was among those in the House of Representatives who stood up to lawlessness and tyranny,” he said.
