BURLINGTON COUNTY-Kate Gibbs, a former Burlington County Freeholder is moving ahead in her campaign to challenge former Obama aide Andy Kim, a liberal Democrat who serves in Congress, representing New Jersey’s third congressional district.

Today, the Burlington County Republican Committee announced that Gibbs will most likely have the coveted party line in the county.

In Ocean County, Chairman Frank B. Holman, III has not publicly endorsed a candidate yet, in his trademark “sit back and watch” approach to running the county party.   Holman said in an interview in November he’s not ready to endorse Gibbs, who could be the first female Congresswoman from the district if she defeats Kim next November.

Holman, when taking control of the party said he would like to see more diversity in the party and Gibbs, a popular Burlington County Republican not only could bring in many needed votes in that county brings that to the table.  In 2018, Congressman Tom MacArthur lost his race after Kim was able to win Burlington County.

Holman said he’d like to see a candidate from Ocean County enter the race.
