OCEAN CITY, NJ – Officials in Ocean City, New Jersey have officially closed Memorial Day, saying beaches in that resort town will not be open for Memorial Day. Ocean City is known as being one of the few “dry” resort cities in America, which makes it a very popular summer tourism destination for families at the Jersey Shore.
According to a PBS report, Michelle Gillian, head of the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce, the city is hoping to reopen shortly after Memorial Day.
“We hope that not long after Memorial Day we will be officially opening the beach and starting that cycle when people can come and visit Ocean City, and we know there will be parameters with that and we are preparing for that,” Gillian told PBS.
This action comes after New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy detailed his roadmap to reopen New Jersey, which is essentially a “Road to Nowhere“.
