No Charges for Man Who Wore KKK Hood to Supermarket

SAN DIEGO, CA – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s Santee Station issued statement regarding a  grocery store incident over the weekend in the county and while does not condone hate or any acts of intolerance in our communities, the department said it cannot file any charges.

“We are a county that is welcoming of people from all backgrounds,” the department said. 

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department was made aware of the incident involving a man who wore a Ku Klux Klan hood into a grocery store on May 2nd.  Deputies were not called to the scene at the time the incident took place.  Detectives are still looking into the matter, but no charges have been filed at this time.  Criminal charges may apply as the investigation continues.

“An analysis of all relevant criminal statutes was undertaken,” officers said. “As a result, it was determined there was insufficient evidence to charge the man who wore the Ku Klux Klan hood inside the store.”
