Absecon Police Chief Says Zero Tolerance for Destruction of Any Kind During Protests

ABESECON, NJ –  Absecon Police Chief James Laughlin says there will be zero tolerance for any looting, vandalism or destruction to his community during George Floyd protests.

Here’s what the chief said:

In light of the recent events that have impacted our country, I wanted to let everyone know that we stand united with our community. We remain steadfast in our goals to maintain public safety at all costs and at all times. As always, we welcome any and all members of the community to our police department for a constructive and healthy dialogue, no matter what the issue or concern may be. Helping to protecting your home, your business, and your loved ones, is my duty as Chief of Police and our duty as a police department.

We support everyone’s voice and right to peacefully protest. However, there will be zero tolerance for any type of violence or destruction. We are here to protect everyone’s life and property. We do not condone or promote police brutality. We as a Police Department mourn the loss of all lives and Stand with each and every one of you. So many people and business owners from the community have reached out to us through prayer and sentiments and we appreciate everyone for those kind words and thoughts.

As a community, and as a country, 2020 has had more than its fair share of adversity. Together as Friends, Neighbors, and the Community we will get through these troubled times and be stronger in the future. I cannot stress enough the importance of coming together. Everyone’s well- being matters to not only me but the entire Police Department. Please come together as we stop the Hate and promote the Love and Friendship of one another.

I appreciate the hard work and dedication of all the officers of the Absecon Police Department. I would like to thank the families of each and every officer. Please know that through continued support from you and the community we will overcome this and move forward. We are lucky to have such smart men and women who are well trained and risk their lives to protect the community. It’s their dedication and loyalty that will lead us into the future.
