ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Atlantic City is going to start letting people drink on the boardwalk effective today, Mayor Marty Small announced this weekend.  The drinking zone will be from Sovereign Avenue to Rhode Island Avenue.   Drinks must be purchased from bars and restaurants within the declared zones and personal alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the beach or boardwalk.   The new order takes effect just as outdoor dining has been permitted across the state by Governor Philip Dunton Murphy.
