Republican U.S. Senate Front Runner Mehta Holds Closed Door Meeting With NJEA Political Leadership

TRENTON, NJ – Days after declaring himself the victor in the 2020 U.S. Senate Republican primary election, as hundreds of thousands of ballots remained uncounted, former Obama Democrat Rikin Mehta met behind closed doors with the New Jersey Education Association’s top leaders to lobby for support in the November election.

It was the first high-level meeting for Mehta as he now gears his campaign towards the November election, even as his opponent Hirsh Singh narrowed the ballot gap to just a little over 1% on Friday afternoon.  Mehta met with the state’s most powerful union and its leaders in an attempt to win their support against Cory Booker in the November election.
