Rate of COVID-19 Positives Doubled in Ocean County This Week

TOMS RIVER, NJ – COVID-19 figures are rising up in Ocean County this week according to the Ocean County Health Department figures released each day.  There have been 214 new confirmed positive cases in the past 5 days.

Lakewood and Brick Township have had sharp increases in positive tests in the past 5 days.  Toms River has had 58 new cases this week. Brick has had 52 new cases and Lakewood has had 20 new cases this week.   Cases in Ocean County have doubled this week over the past 31 day average.   On Friday alone, 76 new cases were reported in Ocean County.

Governor Phil Murphy announced on Friday that 488 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed.  Ocean County’s 214 represents 43.8% of all positives tests announced on Friday by the Governor and the Ocean County Health Department.


Tonight we reached out to Ocean County Health Department coordinator Daniel Regeneye to see if the department can provide a breakdown on this week’s flare-up by age and/or activities.

Updated: Last night we were informed that 24 lifeguards on Long Beach Island were tested positive for COVID-19.
