LEBANON TWP, NJ – Acting Hunterdon County Prosecutor Michael J. Williams, and Acting Chief of Detectives Frank R. Crisologo, announced the arrest of an individual on an invasion of privacy charge.

According to Acting Prosecutor Williams, “On August 28, 2020, Derek Howarth, age 22 of Lebanon Township, was arrested and charged with one count of third degree invasion of privacy. A joint investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Unit and the Town of Clinton Police Department led to the charge, which stems from an incident wherein Mr. Howarth secretly recorded the victim in an intimate act and then posted the video on social media site without the victim’s knowledge or consent.”

The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
