COCO, FL – Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey announced the return of the haunted jail trail. This season, the trail will help benefit the Bevard County Zoo.
“This year’s Haunted Jail Trail will be even more frightening than last year’s and it’s all for a great cause to help benefit our incredible Brevard Zoo,” Ivey said. “Be sure to reserve your place in line for this year’s Haunted Jail Trail that is done in partnership between the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and our partners at Brevard County Fire/Rescue. Each year the event hosts thousands of attendees and raises thousands of dollars for various local charities.”
For those brave enough to venture out to the Haunted Jail trail, please follow the signs into the compound. When your vehicle finds its resting place, please remain in your vehicle until an attendant greets you to collect your admission fee, assign you to a number, and provide you with additional directions. An announcement will be made when it’s your turn. There will be a maximum of 10 victims per group. If you care to venture to the trail with a full stomach, there will be a variety of food trucks available each night to serve up your last meals. Once served, to avoid tempting our hungry spirits, please consume your purchases at or in your vehicle.
Masks are encouraged when social distancing is not feasible. Food Trucks will be available outside the trail area. Event hours are from 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Last group on the trail will be at 10:30pm. Recommended ages are12 and up. Absolutely no weapons will be allowed, regardless of whether they are real or fake.
“This year we have chosen the Brevard Zoo and the Brevard Public Safety Charity as our benefactors for the proceeds,” Ivey said. “The Brevard Zoo needs our help as their admissions and fundraising efforts are down as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic so let’s all work together to help them out while also having a frightening time together. This year’s trail and format has been changed to accommodate CDC Guidelines as a result of COVID-19 and I can assure you is shaping up to be one of the most scary trails yet!.”
