MIDDLETOWN, NJ – Alannah Perry, the wife of Middletown Mayor Tony Perry, who is also the daughter of New Jersey Assemblyman Gerry Shcarfenberger is in hot water this week with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission. According to a report in the Asbury Park Press, Perry, who serves as the treasurer of the Middletown Republican party has not filed financial reports for her club’s political candidates since 2016.

A complaint has been filed against Perry by Oakhurst lawyer Alex Desevo with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission.  Desevo claims Perry could be hiding the identification of donors who donated as much as $40,000 during the period she did not file her financial reports.

When reports aren’t filed, public information is hidden from voters, including who makes donations to political candidates, how much and how those candidates are spending that money.  Some of the donations Desevo uncovered that went unreported include $850 from Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden, thousands of dollars from the Monmouth GOP and thousands of dollars from local pay to play donors and professionals.

An 8-count indictment has been filed with the NJELEC against Perry.  Peter Carton, head of the Middletown GOP claims Perry filed those reports, but the New Jersey Election Commission said it is highly unlikely that they would misplace four years worth of filings for the Middletown GOP.
