NEW HAVEN, CT – The New Haven Police Department is investigating two shootings that occurred Thursday, October 29.  In the first incident, just before 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunfire in the area of Cedar Hill Avenue and May Street in the Cedar Hill neighborhood. Patrol officers located evidence of gunfire near the intersection.  Several minutes later, a gunshot victim was dropped-off by private vehicle at Yale-New Haven Hospital at 1450 Chapel Street. The 37-year-old West Haven man had been shot in the thigh. His injuries were non-life threatening.

Detectives responded to the hospital and the crime scene. Investigators learned the shooting happened during an attempted robbery of the victim. The second shooting occurred an hour later. Just before 6:30 p.m., a New Haven man was shot multiple times in the Dixwell neighborhood.  Patrol officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert of gunfire on Winter Street between Goffe Street and Webster Street. Arriving officers were directed to a gunshot victim outside a nearby Goffe Street residence.

New Haven Fire and American Medical Response arrived and treated the victim. The 33-year-old man had been shot in the shoulder, abdomen, buttocks, and thigh. An ambulance transported the victim to the hospital where he remains in stable condition. At the scene, detectives canvassed Winter Street and a portion of the neighborhood. It is believed the victim was riding a bicycle when an unknown gunman on foot shot him.  The shooting investigations are ongoing. There are no indications the incidents are related.
