Over 250,000 Ocean County Mail-In Ballots Received, Here’s the Breakdown

Toms River, NJ – According to the Ocean County Board of Elections, Republicans in the predominantly red county are outvoting Democrats.  As of Friday, 262,553 mail-in ballots have been cast in the county.   Of those ballots, 107,581 were by registered Republicans, 73,366 by registered Democrats and 81,606 ballots cast by independents.  40% of the ballots were Republican, 27% were Democrat and 31% were independent voters.

The early voting numbers could bode well for Congressional District 3 Republican candidate David Richter.  While early counts do not count the actual votes, they are representations of only the affiliation of the voter.   Richter is running against Andy Kim.  The Ocean County figures could also bolster U.S. Senate candidate Rikin Mehta’s vote count to close the 30% gap he currently trails Cory Booker.
