High Speed Pursuit in Stockton Yields Gun, but No Suspect

STOCKTON, CA –  On Tuesday, shortly after 1:00 am, Deputies Parker and Solorio encountered a reckless driver in the area of northbound Interstate 5, near Country Club Blvd. in Stockton.

They initiated a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield and took off at a high rate of speed. A pursuit ensued, that led the deputies into a neighborhood off Quail Lakes and March Lane.
The suspect was driving the wrong way at one point, so the pursuit was terminated. A short distance later, the suspect vehicle was found abandoned in the middle of the road with the driver’s door standing open.
Sitting on the front seat was a loaded AR-15 style rifle with a forty round magazine, and no identification numbers. The weapon was immediately secured and a search for the driver followed, but he was not found.
