Joe Biden Plan Could Have Vaccine Researchers Bogged Down by FDA, Congressional Hearings, Red Tape

Today, as Pfizer has announced a COVID-19 vaccine that is 90% effective and nearly ready for approval by the FDA, Joe Biden says he would tie pharmaceutical companies down in lengthy congressional hearings and FDA testimony before he allowed a vaccine to be approved.

On his “First 100 Days” transition website, Biden says he would require all vaccine makers to stand before the House of Representatives and be subjected to lengthy reports created by FDA lifers that will drive non-stop hearings before the first dose can be administered to the public.   Until then, Biden called for a national lockdown and mandatory facemask requirement for Americans if the newly arrived second wave continues increasing.

“[I will] ensure that politics plays no role in determining the safety and efficacy of any vaccine,” Joe Biden said. “The following 3 principles will guide the Biden-Harris administration…put scientists in charge of all decisions on safety and efficacy; publicly release clinical data for any vaccine the FDA approves, and authorize career staff to write a written report for public review and permit them to appear before Congress and speak publicly uncensored.”

That process could delay the release of a vaccine by months with unnecessary bureaucracy, finger-pointing and political bantering as thousands of Americans continue to die from the virus.

President Donald J. Trump today praised the work done by Pfizer and said it had attributed to a surge in the stock market on the news.
