BLM Founder to Biden: We Want Something for Our Vote

Robert Walker

Patrice Cullors, founder of the Black Lives Matter movement said this week that black America is responsible for the possible election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.  In return, she is demanding a seat at the table with as of now, President-Elect Joe Biden.

“Without the resounding support of Black people, we would be saddled with a very different electoral outcome. In short, Black people won this election,” the BLM leader said. “We want something for our vote. We want to be heard and our agenda to be prioritized.”

In a letter to Biden and Harris, Cullors congratulated the pair on their current lead in the 2020 election as votes are counted and challenges mounted against those results amid claims of voter irregularities.

“We are relieved that the Trump era in government is coming to a close. As we celebrate his electoral demise, we also know that his political exit does not ensure an end to the intolerable conditions faced by Black people in America,” Black Lives Matter said in a statement. “A well-thought-out, community-driven, fully resourced agenda that addresses the particular challenges faced by Black people must be a top priority. We are requesting a meeting with you both to discuss the expectations that we have for your administration and the commitments that must be made to Black people. Without the resounding support of Black people, we would be saddled with a very different electoral outcome.”

BLM then got to the point.  Black people won the election, the group claims, though no evidence exists to support that claim as votes are still being tallied and reports on voter demographics have not yet been released.

“In short, Black people won this election. Alongside Black-led organizations around the nation, Black Lives Matter invested heavily in this election,” BLM said.

Despite black Americans being faced with poverty, crime, and unemployment in Democrat-controlled cities across America, BLM said they remain committed to the Democrat Party that keeps holds them back.

“These expectations not just because Black people are the most consistent and reliable voters for Democrats, but also because Black people are truly living in crisis in a nation that was built on our subjugation,” BLM said. “Up until this point. the United States has refused to directly reckon with the way that it devalues Black people and devastates our lives. This cannot continue. Black people can neither afford to live through the vitriol of a Trump-like Presidency nor through the indifference of a Democrat-controlled government that refuses to wrestle with its most egregious and damnable shame.”

BLM was referring to the long history of Democrat’s involvement in slavery and segregation in the United States.

“We worked long and hard to ensure we did all we could to vote Donald Trump out of the White House — we succeeded. And in doing so, we even elected a Black woman — the first Black woman — to the vice presidency,” BLM added. “But the truth is, getting Trump out of office was not the end-all, be-all. The work is just beginning. We start by both holding the new president-elect and vice president-elect accountable to their campaign commitments of addressing systemic racism and by emphasizing our willingness to work with them.”
