Townsend Teen Arrested for Stabbing Victim When He Opened Door to His Home

Townsend, DE  – The Delaware State Police have arrested a 17-year-old juvenile of Townsend in connection with a stabbing that took place at a residence in Townsend late Sunday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2020 at a residence located off Dexter Corner Road, Townsend. A 20-year-old victim was inside of his camper style trailer in the rear yard at his parent’s house. The juvenile suspect who is an acquaintance of the victim knocked on the door to the camper. The victim opened the door and was immediately struck in the face with an unknown object. The victim ensued in a physical altercation with the suspect, but the suspect was able to flee the scene on foot. The victim was treated and released at an area hospital for a laceration to his face.

Through further investigation the juvenile suspect was identified and contacted at his residence. Upon contact the juvenile ran and had a brief foot pursuit with troopers, before being taken into custody. The juvenile was then transported to Troop 9 where he was charged with one count each of Assault 2nd Degree (Felony) and Resisting Arrest. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $8,500 secured bond.
