JACKSON COUNTY, FL – A Bascom man found dead on a trail near Kirland Road might have been the victim of a roaming wild pack of dogs.   Surveillance cameras set by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department revealed footage that showed the pack of dogs in the area where the body of Donald Ray Allen was found last week.

On November 18th, 2020, deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were called to an area off Kirkland Rd. where a Bascom man was found deceased. After an extensive investigation at the scene, and a thorough autopsy, it was determined that the victim, Donald Ray Allen, had been attacked by dogs and succumbed to injuries. Evidence collected from the scene and the victim’s clothing has been sent to the University of Florida for possible DNA identification of the breed of dog that attacked Mr. Allen.

Jackson County Animal Control has set multiple traps in the area. Below are photos taken from trail cameras in the area of Kirkland and Concord Rd. The dogs pictured match the description of a pack seen in the area prior to the attack on Mr. Allen. If anyone has any information on these dogs, or see any pack of dogs in the area please contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 482-9648.
