OCKLAWAHA, FL –   An Ocklawaha woman has been arrested for murder.  Jennifer Hill thought Michael Hofacker stole her stuff, so she shot him dead and left him to die in the middle of the road.  Shortly after pulling the trigger, Hill realized, he didn’t steal her stuff.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, at around 7:30pm on November 28, 2020, MCSO units received a call in reference to a shooting that just occurred in the 3200 block of S Highway 314A. When deputies arrived, they observed Jennifer Hill (DOB: 01/21/1979) who had just shot Michael Hofacker (DOB: 06/17/1981). Mr. Hofacker was laying near the roadway with a gunshot wound. Mr. Hofacker was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries on November 29, 2020. Hill was detained for questioning.

Detective Miller conducted interviews with Hill and several witnesses, who all advised Hill had shot Mr. Hofacker. Hill believed the victim was the individual who stole items from her in the past, but quickly realized he was not the responsible individual after she fired the gun.

During Detective Miller’s interview with Hill, she provided a statement that was inconsistent with the eyewitness accounts and evidence collected, but maintained that she was the one who shot Mr. Hofacker.

Hill was arrested for Second Degree Murder and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she is held without bond.
