Man who assaulted EMT in Uxbridge arrested by Mass. State Police

UXBRIDGE, MA – This morning at approximately 8:30 a.m., troopers responded to Route 146 in Uxbridge for a reported assault and battery of an EMT by a patient in the ambulance. The patient then fled the ambulance on foot into the wooded area.

The patient, a 25-year-old man from Worcester had threatened self-harm. Troopers, including members of the Troop C Community Action Team (CAT), K9, and Uxbridge Police responded to the  area. During the search for the Worcester man, Worcester Police advised that they had interactions with this man yesterday that involved violence against police officers involving threats with a firearm. Troopers and officers set up a perimeter of the area, while K9 began a track. The State Police Air Wing was also called to the scene.

After a near two hour search, Trooper Mathew Moran of the Troop C CAT, located the man and placed him in custody. The Worcester man was secured back in the ambulance and taken for an evaluation. He will be charged with assault and battery, disorderly person, and trespassing. The suspect’s identity was not released by the department.
